Ui.Vision for Desktop — Windows (zip install)
=============================================

This is Ui.Vision for Desktop (uivision-app.exe): the desktop app that runs
JS macros against the real desktop, and at the same time the native helper
that lets the Ui.Vision browser extension control the real mouse and
keyboard, capture the screen, run local OCR, and launch programs (the
"Desktop Automation" module — the new generation of the XModules). A browser
extension cannot do these things on its own; this app does them for it.

This zip installs exactly the same thing as the setup exe
(uivision-desktop-win-x.y.z.exe). Use whichever you prefer —
the zip exists for environments where running an installer is not allowed.
Neither one needs admin rights: everything is installed for the current
user only, with no UAC prompt.

You only need this if your macros use desktop-scope features (uiv.desktop.*,
scope: "desktop", XClick / XType / XRun, hard-drive file storage). Pure
in-browser macros need nothing installed.

Requirements
------------
- 64-bit Windows 10 or 11.
- Chrome, Edge, Chromium or Firefox with the Ui.Vision RPA extension
  installed from the store.

Install
-------
1. Extract this zip anywhere (right-click > Extract All).

2. Double-click install.bat in the extracted folder.

(Prefer PowerShell? Run .\install.ps1 instead — same thing.)

It copies the app to %LOCALAPPDATA%\UI.Vision\DesktopAutomation,
registers it with Chrome, Edge, Chromium and Firefox and adds a Start
Menu entry "Ui.Vision for Desktop". Current user only, no admin prompt.
The exe is code-signed by "a9t9 software GmbH".

3. Fully quit and reopen your browser (all windows — a new tab is not
enough), so it picks up the new helper.

Verify it works
---------------
In the browser: open the Ui.Vision side panel, go to
  Settings > Desktop Automation
and click:
  - "Test native host" -> should report the app version (green).
  - "Test desktop screenshot" -> should show a screenshot of your screen.
  - "Test read/write" -> confirms the home directory is writable.

If all three are green, you are ready. Try the demo macros in
"Demo and QA Test Scripts > Desktop Automation".

Uninstall
---------
Double-click uninstall.bat (or run: .\install.ps1 -Uninstall)

Removes the app, the Start Menu entry and all the browser registrations
(a running app window is closed first). If you installed with
the setup exe instead, use "Add or remove programs" as usual — both methods
install to the same place, so either cleanup works.

Troubleshooting
---------------
- "Not installed" after install.bat: you did not fully restart the browser.
Quit it completely (all windows) and reopen; a new tab is not enough.

- A PowerShell window flashes open and closes with red text: run install.bat
from a command prompt (cmd) to read the message. The most common cause is
the app still running from a previous install — close Ui.Vision for
  Desktop and all browsers first.

- install.bat is blocked entirely: install.bat runs PowerShell with
-ExecutionPolicy Bypass, which works under the default Windows script
policy. If your organization blocks PowerShell itself (AppLocker or
similar), ask your administrator to run it, or to register the app
  for you.
